Golf rates going up at Bartlett Hills

Certain rates at Bartlett Hills Golf Course are going up for the first time from as far back as 2007, in an attempt to bring in more revenue at the village-owned facility.

The changes, which will go into effect May 1, came up during budget talks in March, said Bartlett Finance Director Jeff Martynowicz.

Resident and nonresident unlimited passes — the holders of which usually play between 50 to 125 rounds annually — will increase by about 5 percent. Their last increase was in 2009.

For a resident, the season pass is going up from $1,325 to $1,390 per person and from $1,970 to $2,070 per couple. For a nonresident the price is increasing from $1,655 to $1,735 per person, and for a couple the price will change from $2,450 to $2,570.

Season passes for seniors are also increasing by about 5 percent, up to $710 for a resident and $890 for a nonresident. Those rates were last changed in 2007.

The holiday and weekend 1-3 p.m. rates will now go into effect at noon, and increase by $1, as the golf course continues to promote those tee times. The rates were last increased in 2008.

Juniors and seniors will get a break, however, on weekdays if they want to play nine holes. The cost will be $15 for residents and $17 for nonresidents. Currently, they pay the standard nine-hole fee of $18 for residents and $21 for nonresidents.

According to a memo from Bartlett Hills Manager Bob Gavelek, the decision to make the change stemmed from junior and senior players asking why the golf course didn't offer a reduced nine-hole fee to them. The golf course hopes the reduced price will increase nine-hole weekday play.

All 18-hole cart fees are increasing by $1 per player in response to a steady increase in energy costs for the operation of the cart fleet, officials said. Those fees haven't changed since 2007.

Overall, the changes are expected to bring in approximately $30,000 in additional revenue, which will go toward the operation of the golf course, officials said.
