9 plead guilty to rigging Milwaukee bingo game
MILWAUKEE — Nine people have pleaded guilty to federal charges of rigging a bingo game at a Milwaukee casino.
Court documents say the scheme netted about $160,000 from Potawatomi Bingo and Casino.
Prosecutors say casino employee Deandre Russell organized the scam. He faces about two years in prison.
A message left Thursday with Russell's attorney was not immediately returned.
The plea agreement says Russell rigged the Pick 8 bingo game for his associates and split the winnings.
In the game, players wrote eight numbers on a card. If those numbers were among 20 randomly selected numbers the player won a jackpot.
The plea agreement says Russell's accomplices wrote down numbers after they were chosen and Russell sneaked the entries among the legitimate ones.
The casino says it now administers the game differently.
