First Rivers Casino job fair Friday

Midwest Gaming, the developer of the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, will conduct its first job information fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road, in Rosemont.

The Rivers Casino is expected to create roughly 1,000 permanent jobs, including management positions, dealers and restaurant personnel. Attendees will have a chance to learn more about job opportunities available and meet with the casino management team.

The $445 million Rivers Casino will house 1,200 gambling positions and several restaurants and bars, including Hugo's Frog Bar and Chop House.

The casino, under construction on about 20 acres off Des Plaines River Road between Touhy and Devon avenues, is on the south side of the city in the 6th Ward. It is expected to generate millions in annual gambling tax revenues for the state, city and area communities.
