Batavia Mothers’ Club to host Fox Trot 5K

The Batavia Mothers’ Club Foundation will host its 13th annual Fox Trot 5K Run/Walk Saturday, April 27, at the Batavia Riverwalk, Island Avenue and Houston Street in downtown Batavia.

Funds raised through this event will support Batavia public schools and other educational opportunities for local families.

The 2013 CARA certified race features a scenic course along the Fox River in downtown Batavia. The start time for the 5K run is 8 a.m., with the noncompetitive walk starting at 8:05 a.m. There are awards for the winners of the run in all age groups following the race.

The Fox Trot also features noncompetitive kids’ fun runs. Preschoolers are encouraged to try the Tot Trot, approximately 50 yards. There will also be a Junior Jog (approximately quarter-mile) for kindergarten to second grade and a Youth Run/Walk (one-half mile) for fifth grade and younger. The kids’ events begins at approximately 8:45 a.m. Fun Run registration is available online and will be held until 8:30 a.m. at the event.

Preregistration is encouraged. Participants can register online at www.signmeup.com/89651. The cost is $25 per adult or $30 after Tuesday, April 23; $8 per child, $10 after April 23. There is a $3 CARA member discount and a $3 Fox River Trail Runner discount available only through preregistration.

The first 400 registrants receive a wicking shirt. Runners also can register the day of the race.
