Wisdom Family Foundation receives award
Submitted by U-46
At the recent Elgin Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Luncheon, the Wisdom Family Foundation was named the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce’s School-Business Partner of the Year for 2012-2013. Elgin Area School District U-46 Superintendent Jose M. Torres presented the award to Wisdom Family Foundation Managing Director Kristi Wisdom.
“When we began our foundation in 2007, we were on a mission to give back to family and children within the greater Elgin area and a partnership with School District U-46 seemed like a logical fit,” Wisdom said. “We support the work Dr. Torres is doing to help prepare our young people for college. We have made donations toward the U-46 programs that motivate students who may not have initially considered higher education as an option.”
The Wisdom Family Foundation has made generous contributions to several U-46 programs including:
타 Project Access which helps ensure homeless children can attend school;
타 Scholarships to encourage students to pursue high education;
타 Superintendent’s Scholarship which provides financial support for high school seniors who are the first in their families to attend college;
타 South Elgin High School Booster Foundation’s Stadium Fundraising Campaign.
“The Wisdom family has been a pillar in the Elgin community for decades and we are grateful to have the support of their business and its foundation,” said Dr. Torres. “It’s the generosity of our business community that helps enrich so many of our programs.”
The Wisdom Family Foundation made a major donation to the South Elgin High School stadium fund, which got the project off the ground and transformed the stadium project from a dream into a reality.
