U of C center awards $50,000 prize in medical ethics
A center for medical ethics at the University of Chicago has awarded a $50,000 prize to a researcher at Dartmouth Medical School.
The MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics announced the award Thursday for John Wennberg, the founding editor of the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care.
It’s the first time the center has awarded its Prize in Clinical Ethics and Health Outcomes.
The Dartmouth Atlas examines the patterns of medical resource use in the United States, with an emphasis on end-of-life care, inequities in the Medicare reimbursement system and the underuse of preventive care.
Wennberg is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars.
