Loyola signs 6-10 center Johnson
Cody Johnson, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound center who played one year of junior college basketball, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Loyola University, Ramblers head coach Porter Moser announced Monday.
Johnson, who will have three years of eligibility at Loyola, averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds at Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney, Neb., last season.
“Cody brings us some skill and size,” Moser said. “He has the size to defend a five man but also can stretch a defense with his shooting ability.”
In 29 appearances at WNCC in 2012-13, Johnson scored in double figures on 19 occasions, four times topping the 20-point plateau.
Johnson played one season at Air Force Prep and averaged a double double. Prior to his one season at Air Force Prep, the center helped his Alta High School team to the Class 5A title in Utah in 2009-10 and earned second team all-state recognition.
