Ill. adds African American section to tourism site

CHICAGO — Illinois has launched a special section on African Americans on the state's official tourism web site.

The African American History and Heritage feature was added in honor of Black History Month.

The section will be a permanent part of enjoyillinois.com.

The state's tourism office says the site will include cultural attractions and historically significant places, including Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood and Peoria's African-American Hall of Fame Museum.

The site will also include information on the Owen Lovejoy Homestead in north-central Illinois, which was a station on the Underground Railroad.
