Put Middle East aid in perspective
The criticism of the U.S. lending aid to Egypt in lean times is a shared one. However a political cartoon on March 30 failed to address the whole story.
U.S. gave Israel a raise as more settlements were planned complicating the path to peace. Around that time the United Nations voted to grant Palestine nonmember observer status. This could allow the PLO to file war crimes with the ICC. Mahmoud Abbas declined. I see Abbas as the person to negotiate with as he is the leader who doesn’t fire rockets at Israelis.
I’m thinking that money is being spent trying to correct poor choices from the past. It could be a way of equalizing, but I’m speculating. Perhaps it would be a good idea to write our elected leaders and ask why. Maybe we could turn this around with a different way of thinking.
To direct public anger toward one group of people during tough times is wrong. We have to remember the past when hate was mongered toward other groups and learn faster.
