Pets are main event at weekend expo
Dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, reptiles and lots more. Pets of all stripes, paws and whiskers are on display this weekend for the 21st annual Chicagoland Family Pet Expo at Arlington Park Racecourse, 2200 W. Euclid Ave. in Arlington Heights.
The show opened Friday and continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday — a one-stop venue for pet products and services presented by Tower Show Productions, with entertainment, demonstrations, presentations and the latest products and services.
There is pet-themed artwork, jewelry, clothing, cleaning supplies, grooming supplies, leashes, collars, leads, pet clothing, pet beds and furniture, containment systems, security products, food, treats, toys, veterinary services, pet boarding, sitting, training, breed clubs, animal rescue organizations and more. There also is a petting zoo, the Herpetologist Society show, the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show, a special presentation on ferrets and John Lege — “That Guy with the Birds.”
And then there's the Household Companion Cat Contest, where judging is based on grooming, personality, expression and overall appearance.
The entry fee is $10; $5 for ages 3-12. Parking at the track is $6 per vehicle.
