Ex-Lake Co. prosecutor faces complaint

The state agency responsible for licensing attorneys has filed a complaint against a former Lake County prosecutor, saying the lawyer was aware he was sharing a house in Chicago with a drug dealer.

Aaron Isaacson, 30, faces the possible suspension or loss of his law license based on a hearing yet to be scheduled by the state Attorney Registration and Discipline Commission.

A message on the phone line to Isaacson's law office in Rosemont on Thursday said the number has been disconnected.

According to the ARDC complaint filed June 13, Isaacson was sharing a house in Chicago with law school friend Ryan Yoselowitz.

The pair rented the house in November 2008, according to the complaint, and Isaacson went to work as a Lake County assistant state's attorney in January of the following year.

On May 6, 2009, Yoselowitz was arrested in McLean County with 23 pounds of marijuana, and state police found another 12 pounds of the drug in the Chicago house later that same day.

The ARDC complaint says Isaacson lied when he told police at the time he did not know Yoselowitz was a drug dealer.

Isaacson's supervisors at the Lake County prosecutor's office were notified, and Deputy State's Attorney Jeff Pavletic said he fired Isaacson on May 15, 2009.

In July of that year, Isaacson agreed to testify against Yoselowitz under a grant of immunity, and Yoselowitz was sentenced to 12 years in prison when he pleaded guilty in October 2009.

James Grogan, an ARDC spokesman, said Isaacson has 21 days to respond to the complaint after which a hearing will be scheduled.
