Chicago Wolves start fast but fade in loss
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Chicago Wolves jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period, but the Charlotte Checkers roared back with 4 straight goals en route to a 4-2 victory Friday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
Victor Oreskovich scored both Wolves goals and Mike Duco collected a pair of assists.
The Wolves (12-10-1-3) opened scoring at 13:52 of the first period when Tim Miller put a shot on net that was kicked away by Checkers goaltender Mike Murphy. But Oreskovich converted the rebound.
The Wolves doubled their lead at 17:12 of the period on Oreskovich’s second goal that sent Murphy to the bench in favor of John Muse — who made 24 saves and shut out the Wolves the rest of the game.
The Checkers (16-11-1-1) rallied to beat Wolves goaltender Eddie Lack four times to earn the win.
The Wolves return home to host the Toronto Marlies at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Allstate Arena.
