Second Zion man fatally shot in two days

Police say there is no indication a shooting death at about noon Friday in Zion is related to a homicide that occurred the day before.

The city's second gunshot killing occurred at 12:15 p.m. at a residence in the 2700 block of Galilee Avenue. Police responding to a call of a subject being shot found the victim in the stairwell of a multifamily dwelling, according to a department news release.

Curtis Pride, 33, was shot at his residence, said Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller. He was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan and pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m.

Details about the shooting were not available Saturday from police. It was the second shooting death in Zion within a 34-hour span.

Anthony Sanford, 29, of Zion was shot multiple times in the abdomen and chest at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in an alley in the 2600 block of Emmaus Avenue. He was pronounced dead at about 5 a.m.

The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Zion police in the investigation.

"They're (police) are trying to see if it's gang related. They've got their hands full with these investigations," Keller said.
