Vote the bums out

A letter on April 23, “Will we cut benefits for lawmakers, too?” speaks exactly to what I have been pondering.

State lawmakers and their part-time positions that pay benefits other part-time jobs do not. These people were sent to Springfield to do a job, yet they did not — witness the budget debacle.

Most jobs require an assignment to be completed. If not, loss of job. Imagine the millions, perhaps billions of dollars, paid out in benefits over the years to past and current legislators. If we defunded these benefits our budget crisis could be solved. Instead of benefits for legislators we could pay the teachers of our children.

Since these folks write their own job descriptions, it is not likely to change anything. We taxpayers will continue to provide unearned benefits for some. What to do?

Vote them out en masse.
