Firm sued over four Elgin projects

An Elgin firm has yet to pay for some $85,000 in civil engineering services for eight projects, including four in Elgin, according to a lawsuit filed in Kane County this week.

East Moline-based Landmark Engineering Group filed a breach of contract suit against the engineering firm Burnidge, Cassell and Associates, which recently changed its name to PSA Dewberry.

According to the lawsuit, Landmark provided engineering, surveying and other services to the Elgin-based PSA Dewberry for four Elgin area projects between July 2003 and November 2008.

The projects included work for the: Judson University Academic Center; Lords Park Elementary School; Sheridan Elementary School; and the Salvation Army office in Elgin.

The suit seeks repayment for $85,053 for work done, along with attorney fees and interest.

About $55,000 of the alleged unpaid work was from the four Elgin projects.

Other projects named in the lawsuit are a medical office in Fox River Grove, a library in Markham, a library addition in Mt. Morris, and an elementary school in DeKalb.

An attorney representing PSA Dewberry could not be reached for comment.

Randall TeWinkle, an attorney for Landmark, declined to comment.

An initial court date has been set for July 21.
