Area chefs to compete in Burger Throw-Down Sept. 3 in Long Grove
A curated selection of the Northwest suburbs' top burger chefs will duke it out at Buffalo Creek Brewing's first Burger Throw-Down on Sunday, Sept. 3.
From 1 to 4 p.m., outside in the biergarten, the culinary gauntlet will be thrown down when five pro burger chefs fire up their grills and compete for bragging rights to the coveted Burger Belt and cash prizes. Winners will be determined by the public and a panel of prominent judges.
The five participating restaurants are: Guud Burger, a pop-up shop featuring freshly ground, premium Black Angus, half-pound brisket Smash Burgers; Craft Urban, a Geneva restaurant featuring chef-driven American cuisine and handcrafted cocktails; IndabaUSA, a South African owned food, events and experiences company; Rep's Place, a sports bar in Rolling Meadows; and Spears Bourbon Burgers Beer, a Wheeling restaurant which specializes in bourbon, gourmet burgers, and craft beer.
There will be two awards: Judge's Panel + People's Choice. The Burger Throwdown judges will be: Long Grove Village President Bill Jacob; the iconic Chicago chef and "Breakfast Queen" Ina Pinkney; and two local tastemakers, Lake County Gal's Hazel Gayheart and Luvmesomefood's Lauren Velie.
Each $20 ticketholder receives samples from all five smash burger contestants, as well as eligibility for giveaways and door prizes. Buffalo Creek Brewing beer will be flowing while live music on the main stage sets a vibey tone and MC Biker Dude presides over the ceremonies.
