Bartlett man convicted of possessing counterfeit DVDs
A man who authorities say had about 90,000 counterfeit DVDs at his Bartlett home, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of unidentified sound or audiovisual recordings, court clerk records show.
Joseph Palmisano pleaded guilty to the Class 4 felony Friday in Rolling Meadows and was sentenced to 30 months probation, ordered to perform 120 hours of community service and fined $600, clerk’s records shows.
The Department of Homeland Security initiated the investigation after Palmisano received numerous packages from Hong Kong, said prosecutors after Palmisano’s July 2012 arrest. He reportedly made a $220,000 profit, prosecutors said.
