Teen hit while walking to school bus in western Indiana

CARBON, Ind. — Police say a driver disregarded a school bus’ stop sign and struck a 15-year-old boy who was crossing a western Indiana highway to board the bus.

State police say Logan Parr was taken to a hospital in Brazil with a possible broken leg after he was hit about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday outside his home along Indiana 59 near the Clay County town of Carbon.

Police say the Clay County School Corp. bus was stopped with its flashing red lights activated and its stop sign extended when an approaching pickup truck struck the teenager. Police arrested the 22-year-old driver on a misdemeanor count of reckless driving and other charges.

The pickup truck driver wasn’t injured, nor were any of the eight students on board the bus at the time.
