Items sought for overseas troops
Grayslake area residents through Jan. 27 are encouraged to drop off items that will be shipped to troops serving overseas. Everyday items sought include small nonperishable food items (beef jerky, cookies, candy, snacks, oatmeal packets, trail mix); toiletries (baby wipes, deodorant, hair gel, bug spray, aspirin, eye drops, soap, shampoo); entertainment items (books, playing cards, magazines, DVD’s, games, stationary); and clothing (T-shirts, socks, boxers). Monetary donations to help offset the cost of shipping also are needed and should be made payable and sent to Grayslake Fire Department, 160 Hawley St, Grayslake IL 60030, with “Troop Collection” in the memo line.
