Teens arrested in string of Des Plaines burglaries

Des Plaines police said they arrested two teens on Friday who implicated themselves in a string of residential burglaries.

Eric Simmons, 17, of the 1300 block of Highland Drive in Des Plaines, and Keewon Taylor, 17, of the 1800 block of Grantham Place in Hoffman Estates, told police they were involved in five recent residential burglaries, according to a news release. All the burglaries shared similar characteristics and occurred between January and March. The Des Plaines Tactical Unit had been investigating the crimes for the past three months. Police also arrested a third boy on Wednesday in connection with the crimes but did not release his name.

All the burglarized homes are located in the area south of Oakton Street, north or Touhy Avenue, west of Mannheim Road and east of Wolf Road. With the arrest of Simmons and Taylor police were able to recover some of the stolen goods.

The two teens were given $10,000 bonds and released on electronic home monitoring pending their next court date.

Des Plaines police said none of the suspects arrested in this string of burglaries are believed to be involved with the recent home invasion on the 1300 block of River Road this past Wednesday.
