6 Grammy nominees from the suburbs
Kendrick Lamar and Drake led the Grammy Award nominations announced Friday morning, but a number of local talents received nods as well.
Here's a sampling of former suburbanites who could take home Grammys in February:
Jim Gaffigan - The comedian, who grew up in Elgin and Barrington, was nominated for best comedy album for "Noble Ape." This is his fourth nomination.
Fall Out Boy - The band, formed in Wilmette, is up for best rock album for "M A N I A." Fall Out Boy was nominated for best new artist in 2005, but lost to John Legend.
Laurie Anderson - The performance artist from Glen Ellyn earned a nod for best chamber music/small ensemble performance for her collaboration with Kronos Quartet.
Kaskade - The EDM superstar, who grew up in Northbrook as Ryan Raddon, was nominated for best remixed recording for "Stargazing." This is his seventh Grammy nod.
Jessie Mueller - The Evanston native and Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire vet was nominated for best musical theater album as part of the Broadway cast of "Carousel."
James M. Stephenson - The Lake Forest resident was nominated for best engineered album, classical, for "Liquid Melancholy - The Clarinet Music of James M. Stephenson," which featured the Chicago Symphony Orchestra clarinetist John Bruce Yeh and the Lake Forest Symphony.
