Northwestern's Trumpy out with injury
Redshirt freshman Mike Trumpy, Northwestern's leading rusher, will miss Saturday's regular-season finale at Wisconsin with an injured right wrist.
Trumpy apparently hurt the wrist when caught at the bottom of the pile while recovering a Venric Mark fumble in the first quarter against Illinois at Wrigley Field.
The Wheaton North product returned with tape on the wrist and finished with a career-high 129 rushing yards and 2 TDs.
With Trumpy, quarterback Dan Persa and junior RB Jacob Schmidt out due to injury, the Wildcats won't have the guys who've combined for 1,150 of the team's 1,637 rushing yards and 17 of the team's 18 rushing TDs.
Freshman Adonis Smith and sophomore Arby Fields will get the majority of the snaps.
