Aurora mother welcomes third Christmastime baby

Christmas always will be three times more special in Marnie and Brett Lindberg’s household.

The Aurora couple is celebrating the arrival of their third daughter, who was a Christmastime baby just like their two other children.

On Christmas Day, Natalie Thomas Lindberg was born weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Her older sisters — 5-year-old Ellie and 7-year-old Katie — were born on Dec. 24, 2006, and Dec. 26, 2004.

“It just seemed like par for the course for us,” Marnie said Monday as she waited to take her newborn home. “That’s how we make them.”

The Lindbergs initially tried to avoid another December birth when they set out to have a third child. But they eventually realized the best time for them to conceive was around March.

“It was meant to be,” Brett said.

Jeanette Moore, Marnie’s mother, said a lot of people were predicting Natalie would be a Christmas baby.

Not wanting to miss Christmas Day at home with their two other daughters, Marnie said she was “holding out hope” that Natalie would arrive in early December.

But then the couple asked Ellie and Katie what they thought about having their baby sister born around or on the same day as their birthdays.

“They were thrilled,” Marnie recalled. “They said it would be the best Christmas and birthday present ever.”

After getting their wish, Ellie and Katie got to spend some time with Natalie on Monday morning at the hospital.

“They are in love with her,” Marnie said.

Brett said 5-year-old Ellie really wanted to be a big sister. “She’s been very excited about this,” he said.

Looking ahead to future years, Brett says December is going to be a “crazy” month with three birthdays and the holidays to celebrate.

“I think when they (the girls) get older, they are going to understand that it’s not the greatest time to have a birthday, so to speak,” he said.

The Lindbergs say they have no plans to spend another Christmas in a maternity ward.

“We’re done,” Brett said. “This is it. Three girls is enough.”
