6-year-old rides wrong bus, ends up in state protective custody
INDIANAPOLIS — A mix-up over enrollment has landed a 6-year-old Indianapolis boy in child welfare workers' custody.
Indianapolis Public Schools says the boy was incorrectly turned over to Child Protective Services after he rode a bus to the wrong school and teachers there didn't know who he was.
TV stations WISH and WTHR say teachers couldn't understand the boy, who's Hispanic and has missing front teeth.
Caseworkers tracked down the boy's family after school staff discovered his enrollment information.
The school district says the confusion arose in part because the boy was enrolled at one school, but was sent to another one due to building renovations.
