Scouting: Illinois @ Western Michigan

Illinois (5-1) at Western Michigan (1-2)

When: Noon at University Arena

Web TV: ESPN3.com;

Radio: WIND 560-AM

The skinny: This serves as Illinois' only true road game until the Big Ten opener Dec. 29 at Iowa, so Bruce Weber circled it on his players' schedule a few weeks ago. The Broncos don't have the size or quickness to hang with the Illini, but they do have a few good players, including 6-foot-7, 230-pound junior forward Flenard Whitfield (17.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Don't forget to notice freshman forward Juwan Howard Jr. (7.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg). WMU is shooting just 21 percent from 3-point range. The Illini are holding foes to 38.1 percent field-goal shooting. Demetri McCamey's All-American campaign is off to a solid start. He's averaging 16.3 points, 7.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds with 56 percent shooting overall and 48 percent on 3-pointers.
