We must live up to His standards

Once again we need the help of God to make this nation strong from the burdens we ourselves have brought about.

Despite the rising cost of gas and food prices occurring since the turmoil and unrest in the Middle East, President Obama and this administration refuse to open their eyes. For myself and others I have spoken with, these recent events are very alarming and cause concern for our national security.

Now is the time for the president and Congress to unite and shrink government and lessen regulations to use what resources God has given this great country. America has an abundance of oil, coal, natural gas and nuclear power that we can tap into. The president’s idea of using solar, wind and electric cars is noble, but not feasible at this time.

We need to act now on what we know will work and begin drilling for oil, mining more coal, etc. It doesn’t mean we have to stop innovating other means of power.

Besides the alarming cost of gas and food, a great number of our states are in financial ruin with astronomical budget deficits that, in turn, cause problems nationwide. Unions are protesting all over the country. Public jobs could be lost that don’t need to be.

Taxpayers across this country are the actual employers of the government and public union workers. However I, as a taxpayer, do not remember giving authority to those elected officials to negotiate such impressive health and pension funds to the union workers on our behalf.

So we need to realize that all of us must make concessions, large or small, or this country is not going to survive. We need to stand with God and each other, and put an end to the bickering and pettiness in this government.
