Library joins in 'Dickens in Dundee'

The Dundee Township Public Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee, offers some special programs in conjunction with West Dundee's annual “Dickens in Dundee” event, Dec. 3-5.

Join them at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, for a free screening of the just-released version of “A Christmas Carol,” featuring the voice of Jim Carrey. Ebenezer Scrooge begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk and his cheery nephew. But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey, revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. for free popcorn and refreshments. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

On Sunday, Dec. 5, the library will present a holiday concert by the New Beginnings at 2:15 p.m. Your holiday spirit is sure to kick in as this contemporary choral women's group presents their upbeat musical sound via holiday carols and traditional music. This group of 35 performers features experienced soloists, narrators and three-part harmony. The program is free and no registration is required.
