Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR host Afternoon Tea & Drama October 23 in Barrington

Members of the Signal Hill, NSDAR, chapter of Barrington are pleased to announce that the annual Afternoon Tea and Historic Drama will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at The Garlands, 1000 Garlands Lane at the Performing Arts Center, Barrington, Illinois. Tickets for the event are priced at $50 per person and can be obtained by phoning 847-381-2950.

The event is open to the public, with tickets for the tea and program available on a reserved basis. This social event offers a boutique, with unique baskets available, cherished home goods like serving pieces, linens, and one-of-a-kinds available for direct sale, and vendors with specialties also selling their wares. The boutique opens at 11:00, with an Afternoon Tea served at noon, and the Historic Drama beginning at 12:45 p.m. This year's program will be "The Real Mae West" presented by Martina Mathisen. Ms. Mathisen will tell the story of Mae West and her rise to being the highest paid actress in Hollywood, a woman who fought for her rights in a man's world.

The proceeds support 501(c)3 charities like Lake County Honor Flight, Barrington Area Library, USO and other groups whose missions meet the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution's criteria of education, historic preservation, patriotism, conservation, or Native American issues. The chapter was founded in 1972, and is dedicated to preserving history, promoting patriotism, conservation and historic awareness in our community, and securing America's future through better education for children. Membership is established through approval of documentation of direct lineage from an American Revolutionary War Patriot.
