Wolves goaltender snares weekly honors in AHL

Chicago Wolves goaltender Peter Mannino has been named the AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 3, 2010.

Mannino led Chicago to three wins in three games last week, stopping 100 of the 104 shots he faced and posting a 1.30 goals-against average and a .962 save percentage in those outings.

He currently is riding a professional career-high five-game winning streak, and has registered a 1.98 goals-against average and .942 save percentage during that span.

The 25-year-old netminder's week included holding the Houston Aeros to one goal in a 5-1 Wolves win on Dec. 30, and posting a professional career-high 45 saves - and falling just 37.6 seconds short of a shutout - in a 4-1 win against Peoria on Dec. 31. He also stopped 33 shots in regulation and overtime and four of five shootout attempts in a 3-2 shootout win over Peoria on Jan. 2.
