I will work to strengthen this feeling of pride and community in all areas of the Village.Key Issue 2 This past year the Village has held many town hall meetings focused on the condition of our infrastructure. A well maintained infrastructure is paramount to the value of our homes. By attending these meetings I have gained an understanding of the issues, how the board functions, Village financial condition, and budget needs.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Sales tax rate for Long Grove is 8.0%. This is in line with other communities in the area. Sales tax is a valuable source of Village funding. Wisely growing this is important to our future.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Public safety is paramount. We should look into expanding the hours of Lake County Sheriff dedicated to Long Grove.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The Village of Long Grove is already very lean and manages the budget diligently. Budget trimming has been and continues to be exercised.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?The covered bridge and our downtown is a brand statement for our Village. Utilize federal dollars to improve the covered bridge. Attract a variety of businesses and services to Long Grove.
