One person airlifted from N. Aurora crash

One person is in critical condition after a crash in North Aurora that shut down Route 25 for several hours on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

North Aurora police responded to a one car accident where the vehicle had crashed into a utility pole on Route 25 near the entrance to Red Oak Nature Center at 2:11 p.m., said Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki.

One person from that car was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and was in critical condition early Sunday evening, he said.

North Aurora police asked drivers to avoid the area of Route 25 north of Butterfield Road for nearly five hours while emergency personnel worked on the crash.

The road was reopened to cars around 7 p.m., officials said.
