Fox Valley Repertory gets ready for its 2012 season
Fox Valley Repertory kicks off its 2012 season with a variety of improv, musical tributes and comedic combat at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles.
It includes the improv troupe The Best of Second City; some of the best comedic swordplay in the country with The Swordsmen; and a weekend of the Beatles band American English.
The Second City’s The Best Of The Second City tour features some of the best sketches, songs and improvisations from The Second City’s 52-year history. The Second City is a Chicago landmark.
From the company that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more, comes the next generation of the comedy world’s best and brightest in an evening of sketch comedy and Second City’s trademark improvisation. The Best of Second City performs at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6. Tickets are $42.
After sold-out performances, American English is back to rock Pheasant Run with the complete musical history of The Fab Four. With familiar costumes, vintage instruments and special effects, this band is as close as you’ll ever get to reliving The Beatles. They will play songs from The Ed Sullivan show to Abbey Road. American English performs at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and Saturday, Jan. 14. Tickets are $42.
Known for their annual award-winning swordplay at the Bristol Renaissance Faire and throughout the country, Master Swordsmen Dirk Perfect (Douglas E. Mumaw) and Guido Crescendo (David Woolley) return to Pheasant Run as The Swordsmen. Learn honor and the art of chivalry through some of the best comedic combat in the area. The Swordsmen perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7. Tickets are $32.
Free parking and valet services are available at Pheasant Run Resort. The resort and theater is wheelchair accessible and hearing amplification systems are available. Ask the box office about dinner packages with Pheasant Run Resort’s Harvest Steak & Seafood Restaurant and the newly remodeled Garden Atrium.
