School bus, car collide on I-88

An empty school bus and a car collided Wednesday morning while they both were traveling east on I-88 near Highland Avenue in Downers Grove.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash, which happened about 9 a.m., according to District 15 State Police. Emergency crews had to free the driver of the car from the vehicle.

There were two adults on the small school bus when the crash occurred. There were no children on the bus.

Two of I-88’s four eastbound lanes had to be closed around the crash site as emergency crews worked the scene.
