I would do anything within my job duties, and assist board members to: Freeze Property Tax Levies, Limit Compensation for Elected Officials to a Part-time Status, and Freeze Compensation of Board MembersIn the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?Until the State make changes to Township government, all we can currently do is to provide mandated services in a cost-effective manner.What should be the primary responsibility of township government?Appraising property values, maintaining roads and bridges, and administering the General Assistance Program to qualified residents.In these hard economic times, can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?In keeping with the most important goals, as previously stated, the Board needs freeze/limit compensation and freeze tax levies. Only those programs mandated by law should have funds allocated to them.What specific background or experience do you bring that makes you the best qualified candidate to serve as an elected official in the township?I have lived in Rutland Township for over 6 years. I possess a 40-year business background that makes me more than able to perform the duties of Rutland Township Clerk. I also bring a strong work ethic, and can find ways to make the Township run more economically. This can be seen in all my past and current employment.
