Camp Keller Math and Literacy Night offered adventures and fun for families

Frog math, popcorn trivia, a beastly scavenger hunt and stories around the campfire were among the variety of activities on offer for Keller Junior High families at Camp Keller Math and Literacy Night on Feb. 22.

The evening, which was tied to the school's reading incentive program, began with a cookout to entice all travelers. Families could then choose four stations to visit out of more than a dozen that had been set up throughout the school. For instance, a cozy "campfire" blazed at the Classic Camper Cook Book campsite where visitors could make their own trail mix and learn about classical literature, while at the Lost and Found families could guess what character a backpack belonged to based on the objects inside.

At the Sweet Squares campsite visitors recorded various measurements related to their S'More ingredients, such as the length of their marshmallow, then ate their assembled treat. In the Library Media Center families could shop at the General Store (also known as the book fair) or visit the Ranger Station to learn about the Schaumburg Township District Library and how to get a library card.
