Marine Speaks to New Horizons Preschool Students

Sergeant Garrett Robinson, United States Marine, recently spoke to students at the New Horizons Preschool about being a soldier. Robinson displayed his gear and spoke about his time in Afghanistan and Iraq. Students got to see the gear Robinson used while overseas, including his helmet, goggles and a one-man tent with netting for protection against bugs.

Students and teachers got to sample military issued food and asked Robinson questions about what it's like being a soldier. In addition to serving in the United States Marine Corps, Robinson is a member of the Batavia Park District staff as a park technician.

New Horizons students gathered items for the troops throughout December and shipped the items to the soldiers overseas for Christmas. A student in the 3 year old program currently has a father serving overseas. For more information please contact Gail Zwaska, Preschool Supervisor, at 630-406-5282 ext. 2157.
