2nd recaptured bank robber to appear in court
CHICAGO — A second bank robber recaptured after a daring escape from a Chicago jail is scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
Police officers nabbed Kenneth Conley on Friday despite his attempts to disguise himself as an old man with a cane and a beret.
He was caught in suburban Palos Hills when officers responded to a call about a suspicious man sleeping in the basement of a building in the area.
Conley escaped from a high-rise lockup in downtown Chicago on Dec. 18 along with cellmate and fellow bank robber Joseph "Jose" Banks by somehow smashing a hole in the bottom of a narrow cell window. The two men climbed down about 20 stories on a rope fashioned from bed sheets.
Banks was caught two days later on Chicago's North Side.
