New golf course community features sophisticated homes

Buyers looking for a luxury family home will be impressed with the spacious designs at Midlane Club, a clubhouse and golf course community of 61 single-family homes in North suburban Wadsworth.

The community by J. Lawrence Homes features an 18-hole golf course, driving range, tennis courts and a clubhouse with a swimming pool, fitness center and gathering areas.

Midlane Club, located off Yorkhouse Road east of I-94, offers eight floor plans. One is a ranch design with up to four bedrooms, two to three baths, attached two- or three-car garage and basement.

"It's details such as the archways and art niches that take our homes to a higher level of sophistication than what you would see at this price point in other communities," said John Wozniak, president of J. Lawrence Homes. "And in today's economy, it's important to buyers that there is no extra charge for these features."

Two fully decorated models show standard features that are often upgrades with other builders, such as 9-foot first-floor ceilings, full oak railings, 42-inch Merillat maple cabinets with rollout shelves, double ovens, tray ceilings in master bedrooms and double-bowl vanities in master and secondary baths.

One of the models is the Riviera, priced from $301,900 with 2,674 square feet, four bedrooms, 21/2 baths and two-car garage with a three-car option.

This home features a two-story foyer with staircase, maple wood floors and arched openings throughout the main level. The foyer opens to the living room, which is furnished with a leather sofa and two chairs, while the adjacent dining room features an elegant gold-framed mirror that complements the formal dining space.

With a touch of Tuscany, the kitchen showcases black GE appliances, 42-inch maple cabinetry with crown molding, granite countertops and center island. The breakfast area features a round table that overlooks the pond and back yard.

A fireplace with granite surround and wood mantle highlights the family room while the den occupies a private corner on the first floor. A half bath with pedestal sink sits off the garage entry.

Upstairs, double doors open to the master suite where a deep tray ceiling adds a dramatic touch. A gold spread and draperies contrast nicely with the white trim. The room includes a sitting area and his-and-hers walk-in closets. The bath features split vanities, private commode, corner soaking tub and walk-in shower.

Secondary bedrooms include a room done in pastels for a little girl, a boy's room with a sports motif and a room with a chalkboard wall that will interest kids of any age.

This level also includes a full hall bath with window and laundry room with a window and optional sink.

The St. Andrews, priced from $339,900, features 3,354 square feet, four bedrooms, three baths and three-car garage.

A large, two-story foyer features oak hardwood flooring, credenza topped with accessories and art niche.

This home shows eggplant and teal walls and furnishings, and arched openings on the first floor. A teal sofa and chair furnish the living room while a large dining table with six leather chairs sits in the dining room, where a mirror lends a spacious feel.

A fireplace with granite surround warms the two-story family room, which is furnished with a large curved sectional that will seat several family members.

The kitchen showcases stainless steel appliances, 42-inch maple cabinetry topped with granite, center island and walk-in pantry. In the breakfast area, a round wood table overlooks the yard.

A corner den with sage walls and a classic car motif has a view of the pond. A full bath with pedestal sink sits off the den and garage entry.

In lieu of the den, a first-floor bedroom could serve as guest quarters with the full bath just outside the room.

Upstairs, the master bedroom features a deep tray ceiling, light blue walls, white shears and two walk-in closets. The soft color provides a soothing space to relax and retreat after a busy day. The bath features an arched headway over the soaking tub, walk-in shower and split vanities.

Large secondary bedrooms all feature walk-in closets, plenty of storage and enough space for a computer desk. Bedrooms include a hot pink and green room with white furnishings, a boy's room with a sports theme and a nursery done in blue. This level includes a full hall bath and laundry room.

This home comes with separate furnaces and thermostats for the first and second floors, which will reduce heating bills.

Other plans include the Hazeltine, a ranch design from $259,000 with 2,019 square feet; the Pinehurst from $249,900 with 2,117 square feet; the Wentworth from $264,900 with 2,297 square feet; the Augusta from $276,900 with 2,508 square feet; the Turnberry from $315,900 with 2,866 square feet; and the Gleneagles from $329,900 with 3,064 square feet.
