Can only post nine commandments
Almost every week I receive an email from one of my conservative Christian friends with a rant about some perceived injustice and a call for the Ten Commandments to be prominently displayed in schools, government buildings and other public places.
Even from a secular perspective, it's not a bad idea. But as one Christian to another, I point out to my friends that you don't get to pick and choose. If the signs ever go up, we'll need to reduce it to nine commandments. Given the many lies that they wantonly spread around the Internet about President Obama and others with whom they disagree, they clearly have written off the one that says "Thou shalt not bear false witness."
