Larsen wins DuPage District 6 GOP primary
Milton Township Trustee Bob Larsen has emerged from a three-man race with the Republican party's nomination in DuPage County Board District 6.
Larson now will go on to the November general election to face Democrat Dave Barry.
"It was an exciting night," Larsen said.
"People are frustrated with what they see from their leaders. People want someone to believe in."
With all precincts reporting, unofficial totals showed Larsen received 55 percent of the votes.
Meanwhile, West Chicago Alderman Matt Fuesting received 31 percent and DuPage County State's Attorney Spokesman Paul Darrah earned 14 percent in his first run for public office.
During the campaign, Larsen stressed his military experience and said his Marine Corps training had fostered the strong integrity he would bring the county board.
Both Darrah and Fuesting called Larsen to congratulate him and pledged to help him during his general election campaign.
The winner in the November election will replace 18-year board member Republican Linda Kurzawa, who announced in November that she would not seek re-election.
District 6 includes all or parts of West Chicago, Bartlett, Wayne, Winfield, Wheaton, Carol Stream, Warrenville, Hanover Park, Streamwood and Bloomingdale.
