Night life events: Martinis for a cause
Martinis on a mission
One doesn't normally think cocktails and carbon-neutral in the same thought stream, but today's Earth Day does get you thinking. Today and any day, the InterContinental Chicago O'Hare's eco-chic Ice Bar in Rosemont serves up special “green” martinis. For every $14 TREEtini served, a tree is planted in a part of the world in need of reforestation. The TREEtini is made with VeeV Acai Spirit, the only certified carbon-neutral spirit on the market, and can be served in a glass made entirely of ice. Variations include a sparkling version.
The InterContinental Chicago O'Hare is at 5300 N. River Road, Rosemont, (847) 544-5300.
B is for beer
The term “after-school special” takes on a whole new meaning at Antioch's Depot Tavern. Every Friday from 3 to 5:30 p.m., school district employees and contractors can stop by for specials like $2.50 vodka drinks and $2 glasses of wine. And you gotta give high marks to the $2.99 all-you-can-eat pizza.
Fridays at Depot Tavern, 311 W. Depot St., Antioch, (847) 838-1090 or thetavernondepot.com.
Hard day's night
Stockwood, a Beatles tribute band, plays Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg Saturday. Ranging in age from 14 to 18, these guys are young — but so were the Fab Four when they got together.
9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Chicago City Limits, 1712 Wise Road, Schaumburg, (847) 524-9910 or chicagocitylimits.net.
