Hooks holds off two for Berland vacancy

Judicial candidate William H. Hooks topped two opponents to win the Democratic primary for judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County Tuesday.

With 94 percent of precincts reporting, Hooks, a retired U.S. Marines prosecutor and head administrative law officer, had 51 percent of the vote compared to Deidre Baumann's 27 percent and William Burnett Raines' 22 percent, unofficial results showed.

The term runs for six years.
