For Kane County Board District 25, Republican: Smith

In the Republican primary for Kane County Board District 25 incumbent Bob Kudlicki, the onetime mayor of Hampshire, has a challenger in TR Smith, a former state's attorney investigator who currently serves on the Burlington Township Park District board (and said he would quit that post if elected).

Kudlicki is clearly in over his head; he is not conversant in the issues, doesn't think well on his feet and seems out of touch with the position's responsibilities. We like Smith's energy and his plan to challenge county spending at every turn. What gives us pause in fully trusting his motives, however, is an $8 million lawsuit he filed against onetime State's Attorney Meg Gorecki over his firing from the state's attorney's office. He won his case but was awarded no money.

Still, Smith seems earnest in his quest for the board and has much more to offer his constituents. Smith is endorsed.
