For Kane County Board District 17, Democratic: Bernal

In the Democratic primary for District 17, incumbent Deborah Allan often casts a dissenting vote, serving as a check to the leadership of the Kane County Board. However, she hasn't gathered others who feel the same way to forge a challenge to the status quo. She also needs to be more aggressive about educating herself about things like the budget.

Challenger Benjamin Bernal is a young entrepreneur with political experience but who has not yet held office. He impresses us as someone who would be out front, speak his mind and get things done. Allan has had her chance to represent the Elgin-based district and not done enough with it.
