Model profile: Preserves at McDonald Woods

The Preserves at McDonald Woods features a private enclave of 28 luxury homes adjoining 16 acres of pristine nature preserve.

The William Ryan Homes’ community situated near Grand Avenue (Route 132) and Route 45 will feature homes with lookout or walkout basements on oversized home sites with most sites overlooking the preserve.

“People have been showing a lot of interest in the community because the environment is ideal, offering the privacy and serenity that many buyers are seeking as a retreat from busy lives,” said Debbie Beaver, vice president of marketing for William Ryan Homes. “Home prices starting at $259,990 are surprisingly affordable for luxury homes in this exceptional location.”

Homebuyers can choose from nine single- and two-story designs with three or four bedrooms, two to 2½ baths and a two- or three-car garage. Homes include full basements guaranteed dry for 10 years, 9-foot first-floor ceilings, hardwood flooring in the foyer, kitchen and breakfast nook, Roman arch two-panel doors and trim plus natural siding.

The featured model is the two-story Jasper priced from $285,990 with 2,856 to 3,046 square feet (depending on selected options), four bedrooms, 2½ baths, and three-car tandem garage. Available options include luxury master bath, morning room, in-law suite, fifth bedroom and four-car garage.

This home features a traditional interior with a clean, spacious feel. Dark wood furnishings, colors drawn from nature and artwork reflecting pastoral scenes and natural elements are on display throughout the home.

The open foyer presents a dramatic two-story living room on one side and dining room on the other while a staircase separates the front rooms from the home’s more casual living space.

The living room offers an intimate spot for guests waiting dinner while the dining room with tray ceiling sits ready for the occasion with a large wood dining table and chairs and butler’s pantry off the room.

To the rear of the home, the informal living area includes the kitchen, breakfast nook, family room and study with the option of a morning room off the breakfast area. Valances dress the windows allowing the furniture and accessories shine.

The well-equipped and beautiful kitchen features maple cabinetry with crown molding, stainless steel appliances, decorative tile backsplash and pantry. In the breakfast area, sliding glass doors open to a large deck overlooking the woods.

In the family room, a sofa and chairs sit around the brick fireplace where family and friends will enjoy gathering on cool nights. The room includes a plasma TV, area rug and green plants.

The first-floor study showing green walls with white baseboards is outfitted with a desk, chair and two bookcases. This space could be used as a hobby room or exercise room.

This kid-friendly home offers a mudroom with bench and cubbies off the garage entry.

With a deep tray ceiling, the master suite on the second level is dressed in soft neutrals for a soothing ambience. Two walk-in closets, a dresser and chest of drawers keep the owners’ clothing and accessories organized. The room is large enough to accommodate a sitting area.

The private bath features split vanities with granite tops, corner tub and walk-in shower with decorative tile surround.

A full hall bath with two sinks and private tub and commode serves the secondary bedrooms. Each room features decorative hand painting on the walls and two rooms have walk-in closets.

A bedroom outfitted for a young girl is done in pink and green while another room is geared for a teenager who likes sports with gym shoes and a sports bag ready to go. A third room with private bath features an outdoors theme done in green and brown.

William Ryan Homes is a Green Builder that exceeds Energy Star building standards to ensure more comfortable homes and savings on energy costs while protecting and preserving the environment.

Although in a secluded setting, the community is near Route 132, which has become a shopping and entertainment destination with restaurants, movie theaters, Gurnee Mills and Great America.
