A program offered by Calvary Episcopal Church in Lombard called Ashes To Go, brought ashes for Ash Wednesday to commuters Wednesday at Lombards commuter station. Reverend Emily Mellott, pastor of Calvary Episcopal was on hand in vestments along with several other assistants to read a brief prayer and place ashes on the foreheads of any commuter who wished, and had time before dashing off to the trains.

The Rev. M.E. Eccles, associate rector with St. Simons Episcopal Church in Arlington Heights offered the imposition of ashes to morning commuters at the downtown Arlington Heights Metra station on Wednesday. Rev. Eccles said about 35 commuters got the sign of the cross.
