Chicago Sky scouting report

New York Liberty (16-12) at Chicago Sky (13-15)

When: 5 p.m.

Where: Allstate Arena

TV: Comcast CN100

Last time: On Tuesday, the Liberty beat the host Phoenix Mercury 74-70; on Friday, the Sky beat the visiting Washington Mystics 80-67.

Skinny: The Sky is coming off a big home win on Friday against the Mystics and has two more chances for home cooking: tonight against New York and next Sunday against Indiana. Four of the Sky’s final six games are on the road. The Liberty as won three of its last four games, including on the road against Phoenix. Chicago native Cappie Pondexter always seems to play well against the Sky and is averaging 18.3 points per game. She ranks fifth in the WNBA behind Sky center Sylvia Fowles, who is third at 20.3 points per game but was held to 14 points by the Mystics on Friday because she spent all but five minutes of the first half on the bench in foul trouble. The last time these teams played, on Aug. 4, the Liberty put on a defensive clinic in the fourth quarter and held the Sky to a WNBA-record 1 point. With Hurricane Irene rumbling up the East Coast, it’s possible the Sky could get a second home game against the Liberty. The teams are scheduled to play Tuesday in New Jersey.

Next: Sky at New York Liberty, 6 p.m. Tuesday
