Two charged in Elgin drug raid

Elgin police concluded part of a monthlong special investigation with three arrests and the confiscation of 36 grams of marijuana and three ecstasy pills, officials said.

Elgin police spokeswoman Sue Olafson said two Elgin men were charged in connection with possession of the drugs after members of the department’s special investigation division carried out a search warrant at Blackeez Clothing Store, 9 National St.

According to Olafson: Jordan Walker, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to deliver, both felonies. Gihon Cole, 28, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for having the ecstasy, also a felony.

Both men appeared in bond court Saturday after the Friday afternoon arrests.

Walker’s bail was set at $10,000; Cole’s was set at $5,000.

While police were searching the clothing store, Walker’s father, Robert J. Walker, 38, charged police officers in an attempt to get into the building, according to Olafson. One officer suffered a cut to his arm.

Walker was arrested and later charged with aggravated battery and aggravated resisting and obstructing an officer, both felonies, Olafson said. His bond was set at $20,000 after his initial court appearance on Saturday.

All three men are due in court again at 9 a.m. June 10 in St. Charles.
