Think about liberty, then about your vote
I sincerely implore you to read as much as you can between now and November about the presidential candidates so you are as well-informed as possible because this will be the most important election in our nation’s history. Obama has made it very clear where he stands and the path he wants to take America down and it is polar extremes different from any of the Republican candidates.
Ask yourself and get answers to these questions: Should government (we, the cumulative taxpayers) or the private sector be the engine of employment growth? Should the government invest our money in favored industries and technologies or should private investors make these decisions and take risks with their own money? Should the government compel individual economic choices for what it considers the social good? Should we trim government agencies and programs such that we only pay for defense and social programs that states cannot handle on their own (do we need to study marsh frogs in San Francisco)? In other words, do we want government to give people their needs and desires or do we want government to promote polices that allow us as individuals to learn how to provide for our own life, liberty and happiness?
Let’s face it, as individuals we can all go for the American dream but we all won’t become millionaires. That’s life. People came to this country with a dream to work hard and take risks in hopes of making it big. Sometimes it doesn’t work out. But personally I’d rather have the opportunity and fail than have government dictate I get the same as my neighbor regardless of effort and risk. If we continue down the same path as last three years, look no further than Europe for what our future holds.
