Man charged with trying to bite Naperville bouncers

A 23-year-old man from Michigan has been charged with attempted battery after trying to bite two bouncers attempting to eject him from a nightclub in Naperville Saturday, police said.

Michael Haines, of Edwardsburg, Mich., was also charged with criminal trespass for not leaving after being thrown out of Rizzo's, located in the 0 to 100 block of Jefferson Avenue in Naperville, said Sgt. Gregg Bell of the Naperville Police Department.

Bell said police were called to the nightclub at about 11:36 p.m. on Saturday night to help break up a fight, and said Haines was intentionally blocking the front door of the building.

Haines was asked by security officials from the bar to leave, Bell said, but he refused, prompting bouncers to remove him from the establishment.

Bell said Haines resisted the bouncers by pushing one, grabbing the throat of another, then attempted to bite the two bouncers.

No one was hurt in the scuffle, Bell said, adding that Haines had been drinking prior to the incident.

Haines remains free on bond, Bell said. His next court date is unknown.
